Visual art is a key part of Hanasaari’s programme. This is also reflected in the architecture and design of the building. We have focused efforts on exhibition activities and complemented our exhibition areas with Gallery Tove, named after the beloved and versatile artist Tove Jansson. The gallery is suitable for a number of activities – exhibitions can be combined with music, dance, performances, etc. Hanasaari also features other exhibition facilities, and can present a maximum of three to four different exhibitions simultaneously.
Hanasaari’s work as a facilitator for Swedish and Finnish art results in some two dozen exhibitions each year, and artist visits pave the way for new opportunities for interaction between Sweden and Finland. Hanasaari also has an extensive and regularly exhibited collection of modern visual art.
The exhibitions are open to the public between 10am and 8pm on weekdays, and between 10am and 6pm on weekends, except on public holidays and other events during which Hanasaari is closed.
