Nordic film of the month

Hanasaari’s movie nights with Nordic films are one of our longest running traditions and a popular part of our programme activities. The screenings are free and open to the public. Hanasaari highlights modern classics and films by new Scandinavian directors. We also organise director meet and greets, and seminars on media pedagogy for teachers and other interested parties.

Films for school children

The school children’s own screening is targeted at pupils in the area and organised once in a school term in co-operation with the cultural administrations of Espoo and Vantaa. The films are about current questions that are important for young people and that introduce them to the Swedish cinematic culture. The Svenska nu (Swedish now) network also organises film activities at schools, in movie theatres and festivals throughout the country. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in bringing your class to a screening with us!

Development project

In the autumn of 2008 Hanasaari started a thorough investigation that aims at mapping the state of play of Swedish cinema in Finland. It will focus on the status of Swedish films in the Finnish movie business and examines the possible role of Hanasaari in the promotion of Swedish movies in Finland. ? linkki selvitykseen. Hanasaari’s cinematic activities will be assessed and developed in line with the report results in 2009.
