Finnish-Swedish co-operation within Higher Education and Research

In 2007, the Hanasaari Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre and the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation started a project aimed at promoting bilateral co-operation in the fields of higher education and research. Both countries are undergoing reform processes that seek to adjust the higher education systems to the new challenges imposed by the global development in the higher education landscape.

Against the background of the similar HE systems and the changes they are undergoing, the project seeks to highlight important, untapped areas of co-operation and to kick off processes that will utilise the bilateral potential.  Development areas and measures are specified through active dialogue with relevant parties and at the instigation of the project’s steering group, consisting of representatives from universities, student organizations and the ministries of education in both countries.

Several working groups, meetings, seminars and conferences have been set up within the framework of the project. For information on upcoming activities, please consult our events calendar
