Sustainable Cities in the Nordic-Baltic Region
Sustainable Cities in the Nordic-Baltic Region is an intensive three or four-day course and competition focusing on urban planning issues. The participants consist of 25 master students from all eight Nordic and Baltic countries and 5 doctoral students who mentor them. The course gives 5 ECTS credits at university level.
The course is aimed at students, teachers, professors and other senior experts from the Nordic-Baltic countries, who gathered together to share thoughts and ideas and collaborate on a concrete urban planning project to be solved through interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral co-operation.
The project is administered by Hanaholmen and the partners include University of Tallinn, University of Latvia and Stockholm University (Stockholm Resilience Center). In addition, the project group consists of members from collaborative partners such as Aalto University, University of Helsinki and the Urban Academy Network.
The project is funded by Nordplus Horizontal during 2019-2021 and the course is arranged in Tallinn, in Riga and in Stockholm. The project supports sustainable travelling and emphasizes travelling by train and/or ferry.
