Nordic City Challenge is an intensive three-day course and competition focusing on urban planning issues. The participants consist of 20–25 students from all Nordic countries and the course gives 3 ECTS credits at master’s level.
The course is aimed at students, teachers, professors and other senior experts from the Nordic countries, who gathered together to share thoughts and ideas and collaborate on a concrete urban planning project to be solved through interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral co-operation.
The goal of Nordic City Challenge is for students to hone their skills in urban planning, learn to work in teams and gain insight into how concrete issues and projects should be tackled.
The Nordic City Challenge is administered by Hanaholmen, and the Urban Academy, the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and the Nordic Sustainable Campus Network (NSCN) also participate in the project.
The project is supported by Nordplus Horizontal during 2016–2018.
