Sustainable Cities in the Nordic-Baltic Region 2021

25 students from the Nordic-Baltic countries get together for an intensive 4-days online-event to share ideas and work together on a real-life planning case. In multidisciplinary and international teams they participate in a case-competition, taking on the challenge of developing sustainable cities. The project enables them to meet fellow colleagues in the Nordic-Baltic countries, as well as central stakeholders.

The project runs 2019-2021 in different Nordic or Baltic cities. The competition case 2021 comes from Riga and the themes are transformation, mobility and social innovation.

Organizers: The project is administered by Hanaholmen and the partners include University of Tallinn, University of Latvia and Stockholm University (Stockholm Resilience Center).

In addition, the project group consists of members from collaborative partners such as Aalto University, University of Helsinki, University of Tampere and the Urban Academy Network.

The course is arranged by a project team consisting of members from Tallinn University, University of Latvia, Stockholm Resilience centre (Stockholm university), University of Helsinki (Kaupunkiakatemia), Aalto University and Hanaholmen – the Swedish-Finnish cultural centre.

The project is funded by Nordplus Horizontal and runs from 2019-2021.
