Art and Culture

Art has a special meaning and history at Hanaholmen. Already at the time of the establishment it was clear that there would be art in the building. In addition to the fine art collection consisting of Finnish and Swedish contemporary art, you can see many temporary exhibitions in the Hanaholmen Gallery.  The art has also spread to Hanaholmen’s surroundings and nature.

Hanaholmen’s art collection reflects the trends in Swedish and Finnish visual arts from the early 1970s. The most famous Swedish and Finnish artists of the era are represented and most of the works consist of visual arts. Numerically, graphics dominate.

The collection has been expanded through purchases and donations over the years. In the newly reopened Hanaholmen, the original art collection is revived in a new and modern way.

Some of the pieces have been conserved and have new frameworks and all works have been refreshed. The planning and suspension is done in collaboration with Hanaholmen’s art expert Susanne Procopé-Ilmonen and interior designer Jukka Halminen.
