Nordic Pearls – Pearl courses

Hanaholmen, Voksenåsen, Schaeffergården and Lysebu are four bilateral cultural centres in the Nordic region, which together form the Nordic Pearls network.

For several decades, these cultural centres have collaborated on a variety of projects and programmes. A key part of the co-operation is the joint course offering for teacher training students in the entire Nordic region. This programme also includes Biskops Arnö, the Nordic Folk High School in Sweden.

The aim of the pearl courses is to increase interest in language and culture through a short stay in another Nordic country and by attending a course in one of the neighbouring languages. The idea of the courses is to show future teachers how close the Scandinavian languages stand. In addition, the teachers are offered a knowledge base for education on Nordic issues and help in establishing Nordic networks.
